چکیده

Background and Objectives: Postoperative nausea vomiting (PONV) is a common adverse effect of general anesthesia, especially in middle ear surgery. Remimazolam newer benzodiazepine recently approved for use anesthesia. This study aimed to compare the incidence rate PONV after tympanoplasty with mastoidectomy between using remimazolam sevoflurane. Materials Methods: included 80 patients undergoing elective mastoidectomy. The were randomly assigned either or sevoflurane group. primary outcome was 12 h secondary outcomes 12–24 24–48 surgery, severity PONV, vomiting, administration rescue antiemetics, hemodynamic stability, recovery profiles. I.V. APD421 (amisulpride) prevents postoperative nausea and vomiting: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial.

BACKGROUND Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) remain significant clinical problems for patients, especially nausea. The D2-antagonist droperidol was popular for prophylaxis until safety concerns limited its use. In early testing, APD421 (amisulpride for i.v. injection), a D2/D3-antagonist, has shown promising antiemetic efficacy at very low doses. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, ...

Postoperative nausea and vomiting after mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty: a comparison between TIVA with propofol-remifentanil and balanced anesthesia with sevoflurane-remifentanil

BACKGROUND There is growing interest in the anesthetic approach using total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol and remifentanil for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The aim of this study was to compare between the two anesthetic techniques for preventing PONV in the patients undergoing mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty. METHODS After obtaining informed conse...

Effect of Ondansetron on the Incidence of Ketamine Associated Vomiting in Procedural Sedation and Analgesia in Children: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial

Background Vomiting is a common side effect of ketamine in children's sedation and there is still controversy about the use of an anti-emetic drug along with ketamine to reduce this complication. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of ondansetron in controlling vomiting induced by intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) ketamine for procedural sedation and analgesia in chil...

A Comparison of Preoperative Ondansetron and Dexamethasone in the Prevention of Post-Tympanoplasty Nausea and Vomiting

Background: Nausea and vomiting are common complications of anesthesia and surgery. Patients undergoing tympanoplasty are exposed to a higher risk of postoperative nausea vomiting (PONV). These complications may alter the results of reconstruction and anatomical alignments. Numerous antiemetics have been studied to prevent and treat PONV in patients undergoing tympanoplasty. The aim of this stu...

The Comparison of Midazolam and Diazepam on Incidence of Postoperative Nausea and vomiting

Abstract Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common and unpleasant complication. Various drugs are used for prevention and treatment of PONV. Recently an antiemetic effect of Lorazepam has been reported, that it's usage as premedication can reduce PONV in children. As Benzodiazepines are safe drugs, their probable antiemetic effect may reduce the usage of other antiemetic drugs with ...
